Store Locator Plus allows you to feature specific locations in your search results. This requires the Experience add on for WordPress or a Professional or Enterprise account for My Store Locator Plus. Some of the interface styles provided by the style gallery support featured location highlighting “out of the box”, such as the Default With Font Tweaks style.
Select A Style That Supports Featured Locations
The Default With Font Tweaks Style is one of the styles that highlights locations and is a good starting point for testing this functionality. You can adjust the layout and styling afterwards to meet your specific design requirements.
WPSLP – Select the Store Locator Plus entry in the side menu.
MYSLP – Select Advanced Options in the side menu.
Go to the Experience Tab and select the View subtab.
Click on the activate button on Default With Font Tweaks in the style gallery.
The Experience Add On allows you to custom tailor the look and feel of the Store Locator Plus plugin on your site. To accomplish this the plugin uses a combination of HTML and special shortcodes. These are set via the Experience tab of the plugin and is broken into 3 main areas.
The Overall Layout
This is set via the View / Layout setting. It determines the overall layout for the plugin based on 3 primary components: The Search Form, The Map, and The Results.
You can change the results Layout with the Experience Add-on by using a combination of shortcodes and html. i.e. use this in the Results Layout:
<a href=”[slp_location url]”>[slp_location name]</a>
If you have the Power Add-on in addition to the Experience Add-on you have additional fields that can be displayed with the use of shortcodes and attributes.
The Power Add-on has Contact Fields that can be associated with your locations for adding internal special ids for updates or to add filters. The contact fields will not automatically appear in your results on the front end.
The ability to categorize your locations using the WordPress category (taxonomy) system. The Categories Manager (Formerly known as Tagalong) is now part of the Power Add-on and it builds on the Store Locator Plus store_page taxonomy that is also used with the Pages portion of the Power Add-on. Build a “simple flat list” of categories or a hierarchical (parent/child) category structure. Once you’ve categorized locations you will find other added benefits on the user interface.
Version 4.5 of the Premier Add On for Store Locator Plus introduces territories to locations.
Once a location is setup with a territory the map markers that are sent back from the server during a user search will include a ‘in_territory’ property set to ‘1’ if the user’s location is within the territory and ‘0’ if not. An additional ‘in_territory_class’ property will also be set to either ‘in_territory’ or a blank string. Both settings are part of the ‘data’ property of the location marker.
The ability to change results layout is included in the Experience add on.
Results Default Format
The default format for the results string uses the numerical encoding for the various data elements that can be rendered. This default string format is present in the base Store Locator Plus plugin. You can reset to the default at any time by deleting the entry in the Results Layout field under Experience/Results/Appearance and saving the settings.
